The strategic value of Belarus

Many of us have heard descriptions of the many ways in which the control of the Mediterranean world by the Roman Empire allowed the gospel to spread during the early years of the church.

In similar ways, the control of the former Soviet Union over large a part of the world during the 20th century can be used by the church today. Belarusians have much easier access into many countries which look suspiciously on visitors from North America. This includes the predominantly Islamic nations of central Asia.

There is also a strong connection to Israel where one out of six people are Russian speaking. In recent years Belarus has developed increasing ties to Iran, China and some African nations.

Belarus has been described as the last nation in Europe to accept Christianity. It is our prayer that God turns this around so that Belarus is saturated with gospel ministry, and becomes the great sending nation of Europe!
